Ecosystem Research Center

The research and development center is an industrial building whose mission is the aquaculture (the cultivation of algae for energy purposes) and the development and integration of a new ecosystem in the lake. This center also serves a large part of the facilities left by the massive obsolete industry of the place.
The project is located on a natural peninsula that leaves behind the lake and takes advantage of the subsoil and falls of the natural water course to create wetlands, necessary for the planting of algae in 3 levels: permanently dry areas, partially flooded areas, permanently flooded areas. .
The algae park has an important zoning that is observed in the plant, in the south part is the sampling area with the areas of planting (cultivation and primary chemical treatment) and the storage area. Followed by this is the production area with laboratories and extensive cultivation outdoors. The rest of the island is about the leisure and educational program, a modular plant as a way to land on the ground, avoiding floods and creating so different living and infrastructural spaces (theoretical classes, housing researchers, work areas, dining rooms, etc)
In the middle of the island, there is a fully flooded area where the natural habitat of the lake is recreated for scientific study. Surrounding this we find the viewpoint of birds, whose role is fundamental in the development of the ecosystem.
The island also has different access points to the water and a non-flood area for large events (such as summer camps, workshops, or university practices).
